Yale University is one of the most well known and prestigious private universities in the world. Yale is situated in New Haven in Connecticut and was founded in the year 1701 as a Collegiate School. Yale happens to be the third-oldest university for higher education in United States of America.


Yale’s historical and very prestigious origin can be easily traced back to the 17th century, in the 1640s to be more precise. Yale’s roots belong to colonial clergymen who actually led an effort to establish a college in order to preserve the traditional European education and the college finally was completed later in 1701.


Yale University has a total of 35 athletic teams and all of them compete in several athletic fields. Yale has the Ivy League Conference, the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association, and the Eastern College Athletic Conference. The University of Yale is also I member of the NCAA Division. Yale has come out victorious in a total of 854 games. Also notably The Yale Corinthian Yacht Club happens to be the oldest sailing club of a college in the world and was founded in 1881.


Yale happens to be the third-oldest institution for higher education in US and at the same time Yale also is a member of the famous Ivy League. According to U.S. News as well as the World Report’s index of 2008’s World’s Best Colleges and Universities this university ranks second in a list of top 200 universities of the world.


There is a vast plethora of courses offered by the Yale. Some of them are Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Archaeological Studies, and Biomedical Engineering, Biostatistics, Comparative Literature, Divinity School, English Language & Literature , Film Studies, Genetics, History of Art, Investigative Medicine. There are however many more offered here as well.


Every U.S. presidents between the decade of 1989 and 2009 have graduated from Yale like George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. Other notable alumni members include Vice President Dick Cheney several, 2004 presidential candidates like Bush, Howard Dean, John Kerry, Joe Lieberman and others.


All the interested applicants need to directly apply to the college, school or the program and this is where they would be awarded with their degree will and granted access to the Yale College for undergraduate degrees and to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences to study doctoral programs and also some master’s degrees.
