Win Free Drinks Off Your Friends - part 1/5

Welcome to the first of a series of 5 articles all about winning free drinks from your friends! Remember to leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

If you really don’t want to buy the next round of drinks for your friends, you need to place a bet. A proposition bet to be more precise. This is the kind of bet that makes the other person think they are the only ones who can win, when you know that you are almost always going to come out in your favor.

To get your next round of drinks, you need to make a bet with a friend (or a stranger) that they can’t answer the next 5/6 questions you ask them INCORRECTLY. Should be pretty easy right? That’s what you want them to think!

So you start by asking THREE, really easy to answer wrongly (on purpose) questions. Some examples could be:

  • · What time is it?
  • · Who is Bill Gates?
  • · What country is New York in?
  • · Who is the president of America?

Now, if you have a really stupid friend, you might have already one. However, chances are you haven’t and they are feeling pretty confident.

Between each of the questions, make sounds like “umm” “hmm” and say things like “so that’s question one”. Then between questions 3 and 4 ask them one of the following questions:

  • · Wait so we’re on what question now? 4 or 3?
  • · You’re doing well…ready for the next question?

· Ready to move on?

It is important that you make these questions sound as innocent and as not sneaky as possible. If you hadn’t realized you are trying to trick them into giving the correct answer.

Chances are they will say 4. You win! However, if you have a particularly clever friend who can see through this little ploy, then you get one more chance to get some drinks.

If you look quite surprised and almost happy that they saw through it, say something like “darn! Have you played this before?”

If they say yes truthfully…you win! If they say no truthfully…you win! Of course, if they see through all of this, then maybe you should get a new friend target?
