I don’t know about you, but with exams left, right and centre, parties all over the place and mroe work than I can cope with, sleep has been pretty low down my agenda! I know how important it is but I just can’t seem to sleep well.

On the surface, it may seem like the terms “getting a good night’s sleep” and “dorm room” don’t go together. This isn’t necessarily the case. Check out these 10 ways to get a good night’s sleep while living in a dorm room to find out how to make it happen.

1. Start with a comfortable mattress.

A good night’s sleep starts with a mattress that you will be able to relax on. Take the time to try out several styles before you decide which one you are going to use. It is worth the money to spend a bit more and get a more comfortable mattress than to try to save a few dollars on a cheap mattress.

You may want to go with a loft bed, since this model gives you some storage space underneath. You can put your desk underneath and put up a curtain to give you some privacy, which is an important consideration when you are sharing accommodation with one or more roommates.

A futon is another choice if you are looking for flexibility when in a dorm room. It can be adjusted from a couch to a full bed, quickly and easily. If you decide to go for this option, make sure that you get one with a thick mattress that you will find comfortable when you try to sleep on it.
