The Columbia University is a famous private university of United States of America and at the same time is also a member of the Ivy League.


This hallowed university was established as the College of the King by the England’s Church. This university has the distinction of having received a Royal Charter in the year 1754 from George the Second and is only one of the two universities in the whole of US to have had this honor.


Columbia has its teams in a total of 29 sports. The varsity’s Baker Athletics Complex includes excellent facilities for b, tennis, track and rowing, basketball, fencing, baseball, softball, soccer only to name a few. The other sports also include the likes of lacrosse, field hockey, volleyball, swimming & diving, and even wrestling programs.
The undergraduate section of Columbia University is ranked 8th and is ranked 7th among all the world universities. The university also bags the 6th place among all universities in US. The University also has the distinction of being ranked the 9th by Forbes and 10th among world universities. The Columbia University is ranked 6th in North America.


The University offers skilled students highly an opportunity to experience an educational setup in the most fascinating city in USA. The Summer Program meant for High School Students in Barcelona, New York City and even the Middle East is well known and are deemed excellent. The Columbia University Science Honors Program also helps out all students from school.


The Alumni here includes a couple of former US Presidents, 39 Nobel laureates, Seven Justices of the US Supreme Court only to name a few.


In the year 2008, Columbia College reportedly admitted only 8.7% from the total applicants chosen for the Class of 2012. This was one of the lowest rates of admission in the whole of US.
